Halloween Cookies (part 2)

I took the cookies that I made and bagged them up with fun colored ribbon for the treat boxes. These are sugar cookies that I added food coloring to for the pumpkin colors. I rolled them into a ball, smashed them, then added a stem! So fun my kiddos loved these. These were the sugar cookies that I was up all night making. I can't seem to get to bed before 2am when I make these types of cookies! I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong with the flooding and not being efficient with the frosting, or if I just enjoy having a project to do after everyone is in bed that I draw it out.

Regardless of my time-spent I LOVE the finished products! I love even more when we share them with others and they see the finished product that they are going to get to enjoy!

Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween with their families!

On to Thanksgiving...........

Halloween Cookies (part 1)

I love making these sugar cookies! I am always surprised at how long they take, but I really enjoy making them! I don't enjoy spooky Halloween so the ghosts had to be handsome & fun.
This little pumpkin reminded me of the yellow smiley face from back in the day. I would have to say that this was my favorite cookie!
I'm working hard to find the perfect way to flood the cookies (fill in with the frosting) it seems to be taking me to long to spread the color out.

We found these cute little boxes to share our goodies with our neighbors, teachers, & bus drivers! We appreciate all that they do, and honestly who doesn't love sugar cookies?!?

The next post will show the finished goodies in the boxes....

I love to craft in real life.....

Often times I am greatful I have 3 daughters...I would have have NO CLUE how to craft for boys. A tall tower with modge-podge art blocks, maybe whittle wooden trains, or sew a tent to camp in the playroom.

Nope...for now at least I will stick to girly stuff! My middle princess was invited to a kindergarten birthday party.

SWEET...all little girls love tutu's *at least i think they should*. She helped me choose the colors and I got to work.

I decorated a matching hanger to hold her skirt and a hairbow (top right). So cute right!!! I'm pretty sure she loved it, but it's hard to tell when all you see from lil kiddo's at their parties is papers fly...and the backs of all the friends that are WAY TO EXCITED TO SIT!

Cupcakes for my Stella & Dot Jewelry Trunk Show I Hosted

I was super excited to host this since I LOVE the idea of getting together my girlfriends, snacking, & shopping *without leaving my home* SIGN ME UP! I look for any excuse to bake cupcakes so you better believe any event in my home will probably be accompanied by some baked love! The color was spot on with Nicole's sign for the party. Needless to say everyone had fun and I got to see my friends, eat hummus & cupcakes while I bought jewelry! Yes Please!!!
I made cream cheese frosting that I colored teal and the cupcakes are my regular yummy moist chocolate cake.

Did I mention that I got this necklace and other amazing jewelry completely free!!! Who doesn't love free? This is what I wore to my photo shoot for the newspaper contest that my cupcake won! Whoo hoo..... Nicole doesn't even know I'm linking her page on my blog, but she was an amazing person to work with so I wanted to pass some love her way!
Fell free to click the link to her page and just check it out! You will LOVE it!

Starbucks cup attempt

I wasn't sure what to get my sister-in-law for her birthday so I decided on a Starbucks treat with a twist.

I learned a lot while making this and now I am pretty confident that my next attempt will look much better *fingers crossed*.

I had a sheet cake that I made and a red plastic cup cut up so I could figure out the size (this is one thing I learned) Starbucks cups are not fat & short. Next time I guess I'll just have to make a coffee run first!

Next I stacked them and put a skewer in the middle (2nd lesson) I made the skewer to long and it stuck out the top. Which gave the look of the top of the lid, but it could have been better.

I then covered it with my coffee flavored butter cream and then my marshmallow fondant.
I want to try these again soon since it was fairly easy and super fun! I would love to get one of these for my birthday!

Happy Birthday Amber!

Hot off the press!

I was looking at my Facebook (I have an addiction) however I noticed that I had a message from an old friend. She had put up the link to the contest I won with the Arizona Republic. I am still in shock!!!

I wish I had more time to bake and decorate (and less time to eat my creations) because I love it so much. I am hoping to get my food handlers soon so I can register my baked goods. How exciting it that?!?!

Here is a link to the article online...3 creative bakers win our Halloween cupcake contest

Is it strange that I want to go purchase 10 newspapers tomorrow?

Today is the day!

It has been tough for me to find time to bake and decorate my cupcakes like I was in Washington. I think a lot has to do with still trying to find my Arizona routine and I miss my decorating partner in crime Shelly Wilson!

I got a call from my mom about a Halloween cupcake decorating contest that the AZ Republic was having, my initial thought was "ya in my spare time I'll make fondant and get started". Well, I did make time...and let's just say I WON!!! I am so excited to go downtown today and meet the kind people at the paper that chose my cupcake!!! This is the winning cupcake! Or should I say cupcakes...it is actually two cupcakes in one!
I also made this cupcake now sure which one I wanted to use...I really honestly impressed myself! But this is my outlet once the kiddo's have gone to sleep I can play!
My friend Nicole from Rimsza Photography saw that I was making cupcakes for the contest via my Facebook page and offered to come over and take photo's for me! I am so grateful especially since my camera ran out of batteries 3 weeks ago and I have yet to replace them...welcome to my life! Go check out her amazing work! http://nicolerimszaphotography.wordpress.com/

Guess I should keep up on my blog now and start the process to get my "cupcake business" going since I really do love it!
I will let everyone know when the article is "hitting the press" hahaha do they even say that anymore? I feel very blessed to be given this opportunity!

Cheers to yet another cupcake adventure!

We are finally getting settled!

Before we moved to our home we purchased we were renting...(UGH) and what could go wacky...DID! Our laptop stopped working and it took forever to get into our home. We are still getting completely settled. I also started watching my baby niece so I have been slacking on my blog...

My goal is to be back up once school is out in 2 weeks! Whoo Hoo!!! I miss it!

See you then!
